Giving Back Online

Between training sessions and responsibilities to teams, athletes are often stretched thin. This can make it difficult to find time to volunteer your time. At Athletes for Hope, we work hard to find meaningful ways to give back to your community on your schedule. That is why we offer several ways to lend a hand online throughout the year. Below are a few great virtual ways to help:

Share with Others:

Athletes for Hope has a presence on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and posts throughout the day. We encourage you to check out our online profiles and retweet, comment or share posts that speak to you. All you need to participate in the conversation is a social media account. We encourage you to tag AFH in posts about your in-person connections. See something online about a cause that interests you? Tag us! We are always looking to retweet or share information about other charities.

Take Part in a DreamWakers Connection:
Athletes for Hope connects classrooms to career role models over video chat because students can’t BE what they can’t SEE. Only things are required to participate in a DreamWakers visit are an adequate internet connection, 45 minutes of your time and the desire to share your wisdom with kids.

Participate in an Online Campaign:
Athletes for Hope works with national community partners throughout the year to highlight their mission. We often work to create a way to participate in shining a light on the featured organization online. Examples of past online efforts include the #5forPE video challenge supporting Active Schools. The only requirement to participate in online campaigns is the ability to post to the social network of your choice.

Chime in during Twitter Chats:
Twitter chats are a great way to show your support for an organization or raise awareness for a cause important to you. You don’t have to be a Twitter expert to take part in these chats. Prior to the event, we provide all athletes with a document explaining how to participate and are on standby to provide you with help if needed. All you need to participate is an active Twitter account and an hour of time. Previous Twitter chat topics focused on sports and gender equality and how to encourage physical activity in children.

We offer several ways to give back online throughout the year. You will receive an email about these opportunities in advance so that you may book time into your busy schedules. Contact Athletes for Hope to make sure your email address is up to date for our files.
