Starlight Children’s Foundation and Athletes for Hope Kick Off a Success!

Last week, Athletes for Hope and Starlight Children’s Foundation launched our first collaborative campaign to help kids in children’s’ hospitals get access to comfortable, fun hospital gowns in communities all over the United States. So far, nearly 40 Athletes for Hope athletes have visited over a dozen hospitals to help distribute Starlight Brave Gowns and spend time playing with the kids. Some of the athletes participating included: Ethan Pocic of the Seattle Seahawks, Nat Borchers formerly of the Portland Timbers and Vince Biegel of the Green Bay Packers. Here is just one of the great stories that hit the news, raising awareness for the Brave Gowns effort.

We’re excited to have been a part of this effort, but we’re just getting started! Dozens more visits are scheduled throughout the summer. All-in-all, Athletes for Hope member athletes will help Starlight Children’s Hospital reach their goal of 100,000 gowns distributed!

Want to help be a part of the Brave Gowns distribution efforts? Athletes can contact Athletes for Hope to learn how you can get involved. Fans and friends can get involved too! Go online to Starlight.org and donate $25 to make a Brave Gowns possible for a kid in need.

Congrats Nat Borchers and the Portland Timbers 2015 MLS Champs

You might know Nat Borchers from his signature red beard or his work on the soccer field, but did you know that this soccer star is a proud Athletes for Hope member athlete? Nat volunteered his time through Let’s Move Active Schools several times this year – even leading the kids from the St. Clare School in an epic rendition of “the whip” and “the nae nae” for the #5forPE Video Challenge. We are so proud of Nat and the Portland Timbers for their excellent work on the field this season. Congratulations from your friends at Athletes for Hope!
